Double Crochet Stitch
A popular and useful crochet stitch.
An elegant columnar crochet stitch that creates a sturdy and flexible fabric.
How to do it:
Basic Principle:
You’ll be using a crochet hook to work a yarn over and pull through two loops at a time to form a medium-tall stitch.
Wrap the yarn around the hook (yarn over), then insert your hook through the top two loops (the top chain) of the row below.
Catch the yarn (yarn over) and pull it through the stitch loops. You should have three loops on the hook—the one you just made, the one from the yarn-over wrap, and the one from the previous stitch.
Yarn over and pull the yarn through the first two loops.
Yarn over again and pull the yarn through the remaining two loops, leaving only one loop on the hook.
Congratulations! You’ve completed a double crochet stitch!
